Solstafir + Myrkur + Arstidir, Locomotiv Club, Bologna - 1/12/2017

In time (9 PM), then opens the Arstidir, which are in three, without drums; to describe them I could bother Simon & Garfunkel and the Kings of Convenience, and the abundant half hour runs away pleasantly with beautiful melodies and vocal plots. For the last 2/3 tracks they were joined by Grimsi, Solstafir's drummer. Well done.

Quick stage change, and here is Myrkur. The three musicians (bass, guitar, drums) are dressed in black and hooded, and will remain like this for the duration of the set. She has a white dress that immediately contrasts with the rest. The setlist is in balance between the two discs, and, even more than on the records, it is (precisely) the contrast that makes the strength of this project. The three musicians plays in an almost "ancient" way, at the black metal level, while Amalie's voice is used at 95% in "clean" mode, leaving very little space to growling. She hides in the lights, juggles guitar and other traditional instruments, and the audience appreciates. It is confirmed an interesting reality, also live.

Another quick change of stage, and here are the Solstafir. Solid, with a nice sound, perhaps a little static apart from Addi, who is nice and jokes with the audience between one track and another, the live performance is good and very close to that of the record. The setlist prefers the last two records, but also pick up a few tracks from their repertoire. The public, which we can estimate within the two hundred presences, seems satisfied. The genre proposed by them, we have gutted in the review of the last Berdreyminn, is particular: it is not metal, but it comes from there, it is not hard rock, but fishing from there, so it is to be heard. Even live, if it happens.
