Arca - Arca (2017)

If you remember, I talked to you about Arca, also known as Alejandro Ghersi, a well-known producer who is currently collaborating with Bjork, in the occasion of his previous album, the unsettling "Mutant". Well, with this new homonymous album, I would have expected anything but not what I'm listening to right now, for the umpteenth time, trying to talking about it. It seems that everything comes from the fact that he decided to sing with his own voice, and even in her mother tongue, the Spanish, on many tracks. And it seems that Bjork is the cause of all this: they were in the car together, and he started singing for a joke, she asked if he had never considered singing seriously, he initially refused the idea, but then, under the guidance of her, here is, as it is said in Livorno, "rice is cooked". The Spanish of most of the tracks is due to the fact that it is the language, always in the artist's words, with which he processes the emotions, with which he is best able to express very private things, and also the language with which his parents struggled and divorced.
In short, Arca's music on this new record remains experimental and, in a sense, mysterious, but the emotions are more "easy" to achieve. The asymmetry of his melodies remains, but melodic sensitivity is pronounced, and, after the first shocking listening, remains a disc that wraps in its strangeness, and that slowly, it conquers.
