No pain. The world is a wonderful whisper for those who can listen, if necessary in silence.

Covers 80's - Duncan Sheik (2011)

Provatelo. E' semplicemente bellissimo.

Remember Barely Breathing? A piece of 1996, which caused a sensation in the worldwide radio. It was a track by Duncan Sheik debut album, an American pop rock singer-songwriter. Since then, I've lost his tracks. Some time ago, while I was doing my little research to review the new Suzanne Vega album, I came across in his name (the two share the Buddhist faith), and I started to look for his records. Because of the fact he, lately, engages especially with musicals and theater, I want to talk about this 2010 album, composed entirely of covers of tracks of the 80's, all British. Tracks that you will surely know, maybe a few. There are of course Shout by Tears for Fears, but there is also The Ghost in You by The Psychedelic Furs, What Is Love? by Howard Jones, Gentlemen Take Polaroids by Japan, the beautiful Love Vigilantes by New Order, and so on, all in acustic, voice, guitar and piano. A pair of female contributions, by Holly Brook and Rachael Yamagata on backing vocals.
Try it. It 's just beautiful.
