Let It Be You - Joan As Police Woman and Benjamin Lazar Davis (2016)

Glielo perdoniamo.

The new album of Joan Wasser aka Joan As Police Woman was entirely co-written with multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and member of Okkervil River, Benjamin Lazar Davis. The style is varied, vague, pop, light, too light. It's impossible not to regret, listening to this record that will flow on you like water, the JAPW deeper, emotional, vibrant, almost painful, of the early days. On the other hand, any artist changes, progresses, is in constantly changing. She has already done this, and we have followed her with interest and kindness. This album is an experiment, as you can tell from a piece like "Motorway", which could be a b-side of the Talking Heads. The tracks do not stick on you. It is, I will say it, slightly disappointing. We forgive her.
